The Logical Problem of SLA
Keywords:
critical, period, hypothesis, problem, ageAbstract
The relationship between age and success in second language acquisition (SLA) is
controversial. Due to the importance of this issue, this study attempts to explore whether the
critical period hypothesis is applicable to second language learning? The results of this study
showed that some scholars have provided evidence which apparently supports the existence of a
critical period for second language acquisition, while other scholars have provided counterevidence
in this regard. Consequently, it is concluded that critical period hypothesis is one of the
empirical problems in SLA.
