Commitment to Academic Integrity

The International Journal of English and Education (IJEE) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic honesty and publication ethics. Originality is a fundamental requirement for scholarly publishing, and the journal adopts a strict policy against plagiarism in any form. All submitted manuscripts are expected to represent the authors' own original work and to respect the intellectual property rights of others.

Originality of Submissions

Authors submitting manuscripts to IJEE must ensure that their work is original, has not been published previously, and is not simultaneously under consideration by another journal or publisher. Any material derived from previously published sources must be appropriately cited and acknowledged. Proper referencing of ideas, quotations, figures, tables, and other copyrighted materials is essential to maintain academic integrity.

Plagiarism Screening

Every manuscript submitted to the journal undergoes plagiarism screening using recognized similarity detection software such as Turnitin, iThenticate, or other equivalent plagiarism detection systems. Similarity reports are carefully examined by the editorial team to distinguish acceptable overlap, such as references or standard terminology, from unethical duplication. Manuscripts with unacceptable levels of similarity or evidence of plagiarism are subject to editorial action.

Types of Plagiarism

The journal considers the following practices to be forms of plagiarism:

  • Direct Plagiarism: Copying text, figures, tables, or other materials from published or unpublished sources without proper acknowledgment.
  • Improper Paraphrasing: Rewriting another author's work without providing appropriate citation or presenting the ideas as original.
  • Self-Plagiarism: Reusing substantial portions of one's own previously published work without proper disclosure, citation, or editorial approval.
  • Duplicate or Redundant Submission: Submitting the same or substantially similar manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously or publishing identical findings in multiple publications without appropriate justification.
  • Misappropriation of Intellectual Work: Presenting another individual's research, concepts, or data as one's own without appropriate credit.

Editorial Actions

If plagiarism or significant similarity is identified during the editorial or peer-review process, the manuscript may be returned to the authors for clarification, rejected outright, or removed from further consideration depending on the nature and extent of the issue.

If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the journal reserves the right to take appropriate corrective measures, including publishing corrections, issuing expressions of concern, retracting the article, and notifying relevant indexing services where necessary. Retraction notices will clearly explain the reason for the action to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.

Author Accountability

Authors bear full responsibility for the originality and authenticity of their submissions. Before submitting a manuscript, authors are expected to:

  • Ensure that all borrowed ideas, text, data, and illustrations are properly cited.
  • Obtain permission where required for the use of copyrighted material.
  • Accurately acknowledge all sources referenced in the manuscript.
  • Disclose any previous dissemination of the work, including conference papers, preprints, or related publications.
  • Verify the originality of the manuscript using plagiarism detection software whenever possible before submission.

Consequences of Academic Misconduct

Confirmed cases of plagiarism or other forms of publication misconduct may result in one or more of the following actions:

  • Immediate rejection of the manuscript.
  • Retraction of a published article.
  • Suspension of future submissions from the author(s) for a specified period.
  • Notification to the authors' affiliated institutions or funding organizations when appropriate.
  • Additional editorial actions consistent with internationally recognized publication ethics guidelines.
