This study aims at tracing and analyzing the various composite structures that are
always considered as singular, in Arabic, both semantically and syntactically. To achieve this
purpose, the researcher consults old as well as modern syntactical references using an inductive
and analytical procedure. The study finds that these structures abound in Arabic syntax, and
thus, pose different problems for language users especially in terms of parsing. Such structures
function as singular nouns and normally do not refer to what the context shows as they are
syntactically singular despite being made of two words or more.
