The spread of social media applications such as Facebook, You Tube, Twitter and
Instagram and the wide use of Smartphone and tablet technology, helps students to improve
social learning outside the schoolroom. Having interactive language learning environments is
the main factor which encourages EFL learners to log into these sites, especially for Saudi
university students who have only limited time inside English language classrooms. To meet this
need, social media can be used by English language learners in order to create communities of
learning where students can practice English language skills.
This study aims to investigate how social media sites can improve English language skills
among Tabuk University students and to determine what the most common social media sites are
that the learners use in order to practice English language skills. The researcher concludes that
social media sites can be incorporated in the EFL syllabi as teaching and learning aids because
they contain a huge combination of sound, text and videos where students can comment and get
direct remedial feedback. The study also finds that You Tube is the most common social media
site that the students at Tabuk University use to practice English Language. - Downloads
