This study is quantitative and qualitative using case study method. An interview was
done with some of the respondents from selected courses of the University of Northern
Philippines, Vigan City Ilocos Sur during the school year 2016-2017. The purpose of this study
is to determine the difficulties encountered by the students in solving right triangle problem. The
difficulties were classified as comprehension, transformation and process skill. There were 154
student respondents. The respondents were found that therespondnetsy have difficulty in
comprehension. The factor is the belief system in Mathematics. It is recommended that the
colleges should include activitities related to Mathematics. Further, another study should be done
to validate the result of this study.
