Abstract

The present study examined the impact of using a specific mobile application (iTooch language arts) on improving English writing skills among 7th-grade students in Jordan. The quantitative method was adopted to collect the data through a pre-post writing skills test which was designed by the researcher and approved by 10 specialists. 42 students from 7th grade were divided into experimental and control groups then they responded to the test. The results showed significant differences in the mean scores of the students in favor of the experimental group. These differences indicate an improvement of the students' writing skills after using the mobile application. Therefore, it is recommended to use the application by students as self learning tool and by schools as supportive teaching tool. It is also suggested to do further studies on different mobile applications and other language skills to ensure the validity of using such applications in the teaching-learning process.
