This article examines the significance of nonverbal communication in the teaching and learning of foreign languages, emphasizing that different cultures possess distinct forms and interpretations of nonverbal behavior. It argues that nonverbal communication should be considered not only within linguistics but also as an essential component of language teaching. The study discusses various aspects and classifications of nonverbal communication, with particular attention to paralinguistic forms and their cultural functions. The author also demonstrates the impact of nonverbal communication on communicative teaching practices. Through the inclusion of illustrative tables and pictures, the article clearly explains thirteen elements of nonverbal communication with relevant examples, enabling easier understanding for readers. Additionally, practical techniques for communicative language teaching are suggested. The article is highly valuable for students, researchers, and educators in sociolinguistics and applied linguistics, especially those interested in understanding how language can be effectively taught through nonverbal communication.
